Welcome
Greetings!
We would like to take this opportunity to extend a cordial invitation to all interested area amateur golfers to join us for the competition, prizes and fun of the Toledo Metro Golf Association. It should be noted that the TMGA is not a league, but rather an organization that conducts a series of golf tournaments, with each standing on its own. Members may play in as few or as many events as their schedule permits. So, whether it's for just a few events, most events, or the entire schedule of TMGA events, why not come and join us?
For those of you who are still unfamiliar with us, the Toledo Metro Golf Association (TMGA) is a non-profit organization devoted solely to providing competitive golf for amateur golfers in the greater Toledo area. Each year, the TMGA puts together a tournament schedule, which tours area public golf courses. Our 2010 schedule will be conducted at thirteen different public and semi-public golf courses. It consists of five multi-day championships and eight single-day events. Trophies (for multi-day events only) and nominal cash prizes (or gift certificates in sponsored events) are provided in both scratch and handicap divisions. In addition, a point system (emphasizing performance in major championship events) selects the TMGA Players of the Year (in both scratch and handicap divisions) for overall play throughout the season. These players are honored at our annual end-of-the-year banquet. You must be a TMGA member in order to compete in the TMGA Club Championship.
While our great, information filled website (www.toledometrogolf.com) remains the same, the TMGA Hotline no longer exists. For those who lack access to the Web, simply contact Jim O'Neal at 419-381-9519 for answers to any questions you might have.
We are excited about this year's schedule with new single day venues at Tecumseh CC and the Metro Opener at re-vamped Chippewa GC (cheap green fees and larger prize pot) along with Ottawa GC, Lenawee CC, Fostoria CC, Ironwood and Red Hawk. Valleywood will once again host our finale. Per our meeting last fall, entry fees will remain the same ranging between $55.00 and $65.00 depending on the venue, and we were able to obtain reduced green fees at some of the more expensive courses. The finale at Valleywood (including a fine meal) is $65.00. The opening round of this year's TMGA Club Championship will be conducted at Woodlawn (Adrian, MI) with the final round to be played at Detwiler. The entry fee remains at $95.
Other items of note for our 2010 season include:
non-TMGA member may again play in any single-day TMGA event simply by adding a $20 guest fee to the event's entry fee. (Note: Guests who decide to join the TMGA can apply the cost of their guest fees toward their TMGA membership dues.)
If you have friends who are interested in joining the TMGA and they would like to receive this same information packet, simply tell them to visit the pro shops at Detwiler and Ottawa Park, starting April 1st. For those friends who live outside the greater Toledo area, have them contact Jim O'Neal by sending him an email message (oniegolf1@cs.com) that provides their name and full mailing address. Jim will then mail them this same TMGA information packet free of charge. Alternatively, and preferably, this same information can be obtained by visiting our website (www.toledometrogolf.com). The following pages describe such specifics as TMGA tournament events and formats (entry procedures, fees, pairings, rules, awards, and the POY point system) as well as provide handicap and membership information for those interested in joining the TMGA or renewing their membership.
