Jacob returns to Metro and captures Metro season opener by 3 shots over Martin and his net bested Coolidge and J. McMahon by 2 shots @ Chippewa Golf Course this past Sunday

Two golfers who have been on a several year hiatus from the Metro battled for scratch honors as the Metro kicked-off it's season at the re-designed Chippewa Golf Course, a venue the Metro has not played in over a decade. Jim Jacob successfully returned to the Metro by shooting a fine 2-under 70, in a round that included 4 birdies, and it was enough for a 3 shot victory over another golfer, Lynn Martin, who has been absent from the Metro for several years also. Dave Coolidge and Frank Dudek tied for 3rd with 74's.
Jacob was also low in the net division with a net 66, but Coolidge and John McMahon tied for 2nd with 67's and will share 1st and 2nd place monies. Tim Kontak, George Morris and Chris Truman tied for 3rd with net 70's.
In a rarity, there were no skins, and the money was added to the prize fund. The skin money and the cheap green fees generated a great prize fund and almost 1/2 of the field cashed.
