Dear Voting Member:
As you may know the Board
of Governors of Golf Hammock Club Inc. sold Golf Hammock Country Club on
February 28, 2011. Now begins the
challenging task of settling the Club’s liabilities and obligations ( the easy
part) and finding and paying all Members their share of the net proceeds (the
hard part). This process will involve
gathering all of the Membership certificates, roughly half of you responded to
our earlier request, and determining exactly to whom the dissolution
distribution check should rightfully be made payable.
In many cases the
identifying job is quite easy since the person or persons whose name(s) are on
the certificate are both still alive and together. All we need from them is the Member
certificate. But in many cases one
spouse has died and our By-laws permit transfer of the Membership to the
surviving spouse. In this case we need
the Member certificate and a copy of the death certificate. For a limited number of Memberships both
names on the certificate have passed away and we need some form of proof as to
whom the Membership should be transferred.
This gets a little more complicated.
We have listed below the
forms of documentation which we could need to determine the status of your
Membership and have placed a check in the box for those items we know we need
from you based on your prior information submission or because we have not
heard from you.. There are well over 100
Memberships for which we have only checked the certificate box because we do
not know any facts about these Members.
If one or both have died, we need copies of death certificates and, if
both have died, we need proof of to whom the Membership should be transferred.
Documentation We Might Need:
[] Membership
Certificate
[] Copy of Death
Certificate(s), if applicable
[] Voting Membership
Reissue Application ( copy
enclosed)
[] Affidavit of Lost
Certificate ( copy enclosed)
[] Legal Documents
Indicating to Whom Membership should be transferred
Now it is up to you. We want to be certain that everyone who is
entitled to a distribution, gets one, but without the proper information we may
not be able to make that happen.
We thank you in advance for
your help in making the dissolution distribution process as simple as possible.
Sincerely,
Thomas Senior, Treasurer
