GOLF HAMMOCK GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB (GHG&CC)

GOLF HAMMOCK MENS GOLF ASSOCIATION (GHMGA)

RULES OF PLAY (Revised May 2011)

This is a compilation of USGA rulings and local rules that will govern all play in GHG&CC GHMGA weekly events and tournaments.

1.                  All balls will be played as they lay; rolling of the ball in play will subject the player, to a two stroke penalty, or in some tournament play the loss of hole.

2.                  USGA does not recognize scores for members who roll the ball over. Exceptions can be made to protect the course by the Rules Committee.

3.                  Any ball resting in a divot shall be played as it lays.

4.                  Golf Cart Path: if a player chooses to take stance or swing relief, it must be within one club length from the point of closest relief no nearer the hole.

5.                  One Club Length relief, not nearer the hole will be allowed from FIRE ANTS, YARD MARKERS (either stone, flags or flexible stakes) and Sprinkler Heads.

6.                  SWING RELIEF from NEW trees only if tied down or staked

7.                  SWING RELIEF ONLY by pump house on Hole #18

8.                  FREE DROP from all flower beds, including 16th hole at sand trap

9.                  NO FREE DROP from mulch around trees

10.              A DROP AREA approved by the USGA has been established on the 18th hole. If a player’s drive goes into the yellow hazard, the drop area may be used as one of their options, with a penalty of one stroke.

11.              Balls near or touching bulk heads are not a free drop. If a drop is taken it must be in line with green and take one stroke penalty.

12.              FREE DROP OUTSIDE ALL AREA’S marked with WHITE PAINT as not playable.

13.              The Sixteenth Hole has an Out Of Bounds marker placed between the 17th green and the 18th tee box to try and protect players in that area. Players are notified at the 16th tee of this out of bounds area.

14.              Other changes will be made at the direction of the greens superintendent if deemed necessary to satisfy course conditions.

SILVER TEE PLAYERS

1.      Members 75 yrs of age are eligible to play silver tees.

2.      Members under age 75 yrs must have an INDEX of 21.0 or higher to be eligible. Players using other tee’s will have their handicaps adjusted based on the USGA Slope Ratings

3.      Once a Member has switched to the Silver Tees, he may continue to play from the Silver Tees independent of his handicap.

HANDICAPS

1.      The GHMGA will keep handicaps for minor’s of members free of charge. Minor is defined as under the age 18. Handicaps may be kept for GHG&CC members (no need to be an active member of the GHMGA) as long as they pay the yearly fee set by the GHMGA.

2.      USGA, all scores for handicap purposes, including tournament scores, are subject to the application of Equitable Stroke Control (ESC). This mandatory procedure reduces high hole scores for handicap purposes in order to make handicaps more representative of a player’s potential ability. See chart below:

EQUITABLE STROKE CONTROL

Maximum Number of Strokes On Any Hole for Handicap Purposes

Handicap of 9 or less---------------------------- Double Bogey

Handicap of 10 through 19------------------------------- 7

Handicap of 20 through 29------------------------------- 8

Handicap of 30 through 39------------------------------- 9

Handicap of 40 or more---------------------------------- 10

GHMGA WEEKLY GAMES

The GHMGA will conduct weekly games on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. Tuesday’s games will be selected from a listing of 21 pre-planned events which are rotated throughout the year, while Thursday’s games are of a “Bring Your Own Game” structure, which may consist of large groups or groups as small as a single foursome, with each group deciding their own games and notifying the PRO SHOP as to how the prize money is to be distributed among the players. Total prize  money distributed in each group may not exceed the  prize fund of that group.

The GHMGA will provide the Tee Times and sign up players for both days.

Players with handicaps of (30) or more will be required to make (6) points when playing Quota Points. The Maximum Handicap for GHMGA events is (36).

All prize money will be credited to player’s GHG&CC account.
