RULES OF PLAY (Revised May 2011)
This is a compilation of USGA rulings and local rules that
will govern all play in GHG&CC GHMGA weekly events and tournaments.
1.
All balls will be played as they lay; rolling of the ball in
play will subject the player, to a two stroke penalty, or in some tournament
play the loss of hole.
2.
USGA does not recognize scores for members who roll the ball
over. Exceptions can be made to protect the course by the Rules Committee.
3.
Any ball resting in a divot shall be played as it lays.
4.
Golf Cart Path: if a player chooses to take stance or
swing relief, it must be within one club length from the point of closest
relief no nearer the hole.
5.
One Club Length relief, not nearer the hole will be allowed
from FIRE ANTS, YARD MARKERS (either stone, flags or flexible stakes) and
Sprinkler Heads.
6.

7.

the drop area may be used as one of their options, with a penalty of one

11.
Balls near or touching bulk heads are not a free drop. If a

13.
The Sixteenth Hole has an Out Of Bounds marker placed

players in that area. Players are notified at the 16th tee of this
out of bounds area.
14.
Other changes will be made at the direction of the greens
superintendent if deemed necessary to satisfy course conditions.
SILVER TEE PLAYERS
1.
Members 75 yrs of age are eligible to play silver tees.
2.
Members under age 75 yrs must have an INDEX of 21.0 or
higher to be eligible. Players using other tee’s will have their
handicaps adjusted based on the USGA Slope Ratings
3.
Once a Member has switched to the Silver Tees, he may
continue to play from the Silver Tees independent of his handicap.
HANDICAPS
1.
The GHMGA will keep handicaps for minor’s of members free
of charge. Minor is defined as under the age 18. Handicaps may be kept for
GHG&CC members (no need to be an active member of the GHMGA) as long as
they pay the yearly fee set by the GHMGA.
2.
USGA, all scores for handicap purposes, including tournament
scores, are subject to the application of Equitable Stroke Control (ESC). This
mandatory procedure reduces high hole scores for handicap purposes in order to
make handicaps more representative of a player’s potential ability. See

or groups as small as a single foursome, with each group deciding their own
games and notifying the PRO SHOP as to how the prize money is to be distributed
among the players. Total prize
money distributed in each group may not exceed the prize fund of that group.
The
