Assigned positions and duties:

Course Manager (1 – Assigned by Parish):  Person that is the League Representative and liaison for the course.  Will be responsible for distributing scorecards to starters; communicating any special instructions or situations to the starters; assist in directing players, coaches and subs to the correct starters; collecting completed scorecards from the starters; and for pick-up and delivery of scorecards to league officials.

Starter (1 per match – Home team provides):  Person that is in charge of an individual match between two teams.  Responsible for distributing scorecards to coaches prior to the match; communication of any special instructions or situations to coaches; starting and ending match on time; resolution of any scorecard problems; and returning scorecards to course manager.

Coach (1 per team):  Person that is in charge of one team in that match.  Responsible for distributing scorecards to players; assigning starting hole locations; assisting players with scorecard reconciliation; and returning signed scorecards to starter.  Players are responsible for keeping score.

Approximately 30 minutes before matches are scheduled to begin

·         Course Manager should identify him/her self to the course personnel before the first match of the day.

·         Find out if there are any special situations on the course that need to be communicated to the starters.

·         Starters should report to the course manager to get scorecards and instructions for matches.

·         Coaches and players should arrive at course and begin warming-up.

·         Starters should identify the teams in the match and the starting hole locations.

Approximately 20 minutes before matches are scheduled to begin

·         Starters should have located the coaches and distributed scorecards.  Coaches should already have labels.

·         Starters should make a preliminary determination of the number of players on each team to determine the best way to split the teams or to make room for sub players.  All matches should have 2 teams for each hole.

·         A sub must be of the same gender and playing in the same grade or higher.  Sub players should fill in all the information on the scorecard as soon as they are assigned a team to play with (no label).

·         Provide the coaches any information regarding the playing conditions of the course.

·         Coaches should begin distributing scorecards to players as soon as possible. 

·         Players should check the scorecard label to make sure the information is correct.

At 10 minutes prior to start time

·         Starters call all players and coaches together for instructions and quick opening prayer.

·         Turn off ringers on all cell phones.

·         Remind parents and observers of no coaching policy.

·         Make sure everyone knows their starting hole and teammates / opponents.

·         Remind players to check their scorecard information is correct.

·         Remind players that there is a 4 over par max score for each hole.

·         Remind players to exchange cards and introduce themselves when they get to their starting hole.

·         Tell players where to go at the conclusion of the match to reconcile scorecards.

·         Remind all to be cautious walking to and from their starting hole while other matches are going on.

·         Tell everyone the start and stop time of the match and send them off. 

At the conclusion of the match

·         Go to the designated area to reconcile scorecards. 

·         Players are only responsible for hole by hole score not the total score.

·         Players must sign the card of their opponent as scorer and their own card as player.

·         Players may retain the bottom portion of the card for their record of the round.

·         All scorecards must be turned in to the starter for the match.  1 scorecard for every player in the match.

·         Starters will turn in all scorecards for the match to the Course Manager.
